LAPD FIREWORK INCIDENT

On June 30, 2021, a controlled detonation on East 27th Street wasn't controlled. Seventeen people were hurt. Twenty-two homes were damaged. More than eighty neighbors were displaced — and years later, some still hadn't gone home.

Relief arrives in phases and quarters and fiscal years. Crisis arrives all at once.
